Because of the digital age the photography industry has been flooded with quick, easy, fast techniques and plug-ins that were created to “retouch” images at the click of a mouse button. These techniques while convenient, never take into consideration the integrity of the original photograph. The use of these lazy shortcuts is very easy to spot by someone with a trained eye.  Non-destructive retouching is like working under a microscope while using techniques that do not destroy the quality of your image.

Photoshop is a photographer’s best friend and retouching in Photoshop is a skill that can benefit all kinds of photographers. This workshop will focus on the tools and techniques that Dodge uses to improve his photographs.  Sit with Dodge and learn to use the tools and techniques that can take your photographs from good to great.

Learn the advantages of working with RAW files and why layer masks are the key to retouching. Dodge will show you how to remove wrinkles and blemishes, smooth out skin while keeping the skin texture and how to reshape areas of the image to make them more attractive or symmetrical.

Retouching is an essential part of the any photography process. Don’t be fooled into thinking you do not need to retouch your images. Very few images go from camera to print without some form of retouching. Dodge is going to help you understand how to retouch an image using techniques that will go undetected, techniques that will make everyone who steps in front of your camera look flawless – after the retouch!

Duration: 4hrs (could be longer).  Attendees should have a fundamental understanding of layers, masks and brush tools.
